Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
